Cemetery Guidelines for Gravestone Decoration

In an effort to keep Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church Cemetery in its best condition, and lawn maintenance unhindered we have the following requirements:

Items approved for decorating headstones:

  • Saddle top flower arrangements that attach to the headstones

  • Overtop hanging pot arrangements that attach to the headstones

  • Concrete heavy urn arrangements placed on concrete runners beside the headstones

American flags may be placed by gravestones according to the following guidelines:

  • Flags should be small, no larger than 12” x 8”

  • Flags should be placed on veterans’ memorial stone or as close as possible to it

  • Flags are to be placed only on Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veteran’s Day

  • Flags may be placed 3 days before and remain up to 3 days after each holiday

Prohibited items:

  • Anything that is placed in or on the soil and will interfere with lawn care.

  • Live or artificial arrangements and vases or containers that are not regularly maintained.

  • Lightweight items that cannot be secured or stationed properly .

Examples include but are not limited to: Candles, ceramic items, plaster, plastic, glass, angels or statues, glass containers, marbles, decorative or memorial rocks, signs, fences, shepherd’s hooks, solar stakes, toys, hanging baskets, stuffed animals.

Photos: At the same time that the gravestone is being ordered, a photo submitted and approved by the Burial Fund Secretary (currently Rene Clelland) will be

allowed. No cards, stickers, additional photos or other items may be attached to the granite. Any items violating this regulation will be removed immediately.

The general rule is if an approved item is not durable, storm resistant, or will interfere with lawn maintenance, it should only be displayed temporarily (at Camp Meeting, holidays, visits) and then stored until the next visit.

It is recommended that all items be identified with the name(s) of the headstones that they belong to.

Landscaping personnel will not be able to replace items that have fallen from headstones. These items will be discarded.

These requirements will be effective beginning August 1, 2025.

We appreciate your assistance in keeping these precious grounds in beautiful

condition! For questions or concerns please contact Ronnie Barnes with the Burial Fund Committee.
